19 names revealed for Roskilde Festival 2023 including Blur, Queens of the Stone Age, Tove Lo, Japanese Breakfast and more

With 19 new music names from 10 different countries, Roskilde Festival is gearing up for next summer's big bang where the party will take on many different shapes. Britpop legends Blur are on the poster along guitar heroes of Queens of the Stone Age and indie sensation Japanese Breakfast.

20 years after their last concert at Roskilde Festival, the legendary Britpop act Blur returns with a catalog stuffed with hits such as 'Song 2', 'Girls & Boys' and 'Coffee & TV'.

In the past years, however, lead singer Damon Albarn has remained particularly close to the Roskilde Festival audience, for whom he has performed both as a solo act and with projects as diverse as Gorillaz, Africa Express, and The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians.

When the ever-playful and genre-breaking Albarn steps out onto the Orange Stage next summer, it will thus be the 10th time he faces the Roskilde audience.

Roskilde Festival's Head of Programme, Anders Wahrén, says:

"Blur with Damon Albarn at the front encapsulates what Roskilde Festival represents: a continuous movement and development in collaboration with new partners - on a foundation shared by us all. We have formed a close partnership with Albarn since Blur's first concert at Roskilde Festival in 1992 and it is always a great pleasure to experience what he brings to the Danish audience."

Rock fans can also look forward to a reunion with American guitar heroes Queens of the Stone Age, who will visit the festival for the fifth time this summer - bringing material from their upcoming album.

Compatriots in the critically acclaimed indie band Japanese Breakfast will perform for the first time at Roskilde Festival 2023.

The party has many forms
To many people Roskilde Festival is synonymous with partying. With today's announcement, this summer's musical party will certainly take on many different forms.

Nigerian afrobeats star Adekunle Gold will head to Roskilde Festival with a full band and deliver a 24 carat dance party at his first concert on Danish soil.

The line-up also features the queen of bounce hip-hop Big Freedia, while Sudan Archives will display her visionary mix of soul, hip-hop, avant-garde, pop, and club music. Both perform at Roskilde Festival for the first time.

Roskilde Festival's Head of Programme, Anders Wahrén, says:

"We have made an effort to present a package today that reflects what is a privilege and distinctive: that Roskilde Festival is a large and significant meeting point that both presents international music experiences that cannot be found elsewhere in Denmark and connects them with top-current and well-established artists. We cover all parts of the globe. Today, for example, we have names from Nigeria, Brazil, and Iran."

Furthermore, festival attendees can look forward to two significant pop names in each of their own right.

Swedish Tove Lo brings her sex-positive "dirty pop" with a brand new and deeply personal album, and Canadian Alice Glass returns to Roskilde Festival - for the first time under her own name, bringing her debut album, 'PREY//IV', which deals with abuse, violence, and trauma, and which shows a way through the darkness.
