With a total of 110 new additions, the music line-up for the 50th edition of Northern Europe's largest festival is now ready.

Today's new acts will join already announced Taylor Swift, Tyler, The Creator, Thom Yorke Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, FKA Twigs, Faith No More, Kacey Musgraves and many, many more.

With the lowest average age ever among headliners, this year's Roskilde Festival aims for the future.

Rap's regal genius returns
32-year-old Kendrick Lamar is without a doubt the most recognised rap artist of his generation. He has done the rare feat of achieving both critical and commercial success without compromising the least bit with any of his visions.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning artist first performed at Roskilde Festival in 2013, and this year he returns to the main stage, the Orange Stage.

Garage rocking heroes The Strokes return to Roskilde Festival. The New Yorker band with the charismatic lead singer Julian Casablancas last performed at the festival in 2011, and this year they are coming to Roskilde with brand new material from their upcoming album The New Abnormal.

Today's announcement also features the sisters in HAIM who also have a new album on the way. Este, Danielle and Alana Haim are known for hits such as "I Want You Back" and "Little of Your Love" as well as working with another artist from this year's line-up, British singer and songwriter Charli XCX who is debuting at Roskilde Festival this year.

Roskilde Festival's head of programme, Anders Wahrén, says:

"With this year's line-up, we do what we've always done: look ahead. It has been important to us that festival no. 50 points to the future, and that is why 2020 will feature the lowest average age ever among the headliners. You don't have to have 20 years of experience to perform on the main stage. That era is over."

Even more hip-hop
Among the new additions you will find emerging hip-hop artists DaBaby and Dave while legends from The Roots bring their hip-hop by means of live musical instruments.

Africa Express interpret Terry Riley's minimalistic milestone "In C", while Malian band Tinariwen bring their desert blues to Roskilde for the fourth time. The band gave their first concert outside of Mali at the festival in 2001.

New artists take action
Common to many of the artists from this year's music programme is that they interpret some of the current issues in society through their music.

Brazilian band Teto Preto takes on gender identity, and Les Amazones d'Afrique depict sexual abuse. Chinese self-proclaimed "techno feminist" object blue works to improve equality within club culture while Lingua Ignota rails against misogyny.

American electronic composer and producer Holly Herndon's works revolve around both the fascination and fear of technological development.
