The Cure, Lily Allen, David Byrne, Gorillaz, Ethel Cain, Addison Rae, and Zara Larsson are just a small selection of already announced names for Roskilde Festival 2026. Before the major artists take the stages, the Danish independent and non-profit festival kicks off with First Days - an emerging artist programme dedicated to musical discovery and new talent. The full First Days line-up features 41 artists, including the Icelandic electropop duo Scam, the Norwegian indie-folk group Diket, psychedelic and electronic music from Swedish collective Fauna, and the Finnish acts Grande Mahogany and Glayden. The line-up also features rising Danish stars such as rappers Ozzy, Zuloo, Michael Williams, and Oskar Witt, indie-pop group Kayak, singer Augusta Schackinger, and pop artist Berg. Punky Pistol Pistol Pistol, metal band Salver, and screamo-inspired hardcore group Demersal are among the emerging underground acts joining the roster. "First Days is all about curiosity, creativity, and stumbling upon sounds you didn't know existed-only to fall head over heels in love with them. It's a platform for supporting emerging artists and giving space to the ones who will shape the sounds of tomorrow. As a festival-goer, you're bound to uncover some true musical gems", says Thomas Sønderby Jepsen, Roskilde Festival's Head of Music. As an independent non-profit festival, Roskilde Festival is run by 27,000 volunteers - and volunteers also play a key role in the First Days programming, helping to scout new music and plan the schedule. First Days runs from 28 to 30 June, leading into the opening of the festival's biggest stages on 1 July. Main stage opener revealed Orange Stage - Roskilde Festival's iconic main stage - will open with a Danish pop celebration as singer and songwriter Pil becomes the first artist to perform on the stage in 2026. Pil first appeared at Roskilde Festival in 2023 as part of the festival's First Days programme, and is now ready to take on the main stage as opening act - an honor reserved for a Danish artist ready to take their next big leap. Rising also includes: - Emerging Artist Area, where new musicians can develop their careers and connect with industry professionals and fellow artists.
- Headline Flip, a concert format that turns the traditional hierarchy upside down by placing emerging artists at the top of the bill while an established act performs as support.
- Milens Vækstlag, an open call for artists and architects early in their careers.
- Collaborations with The Royal Danish Academy and other educational institutions, where architecture and art projects are developed in new settings.
- Documentation and releases of live performances, art and activism, extending festival works beyond the event itself and helping artists reach new audiences.
