Roskilde Festival reveals Orange Stage opening act and adds 42 fresh music talents to the lineup

With just about 100 days to go, Roskilde Festival announces the 42 emerging artists who will kick off the programme. Meanwhile, the Danish non-profit festival picks hip-hop hitmaker Lamin as this year's Orange Stage opener.

The early days of Roskilde Festival is devoted to emerging new artists from across the Nordic countries, and today the Danish festival giant unveils all 42 First Days artists who will kick off this summer's festival.

The announcement includes Norwegian singer/songwriter Ramón, who has rapidly risen to become a huge name in his home country, the rave-futuristic compatriots Fochs Koshka, and the Swedish visionary artist Boko Yout, who defines his sound as afro grunge.

The First Days programme will introduce a multitude of emerging new acts carrying great potential to a huge and excited festival audience. In recent years, acts like Eee Gee, Jada, and Deki Alem have performed during the early days of the festival.

Roskilde Festival's volunteer team of young music scouts has been involved in the entire process of planning the First Days programme.

"One of our most important tasks is to provide space for new insights and ideas among the younger generations and to push for a more equal access to both performing art and curating it. Collaborating with volunteer scouts means that we reach both broader and deeper into the emerging music scene," says Anders Wahrén, Roskilde Festival's Program Director.

Danish hip-hop sensation to kick off main stage
Additionally, Roskilde Festival reveals who will play the opening concert on the Orange Stage, the festival's iconic main stage. This year, the honour goes to the Danish rapper Lamin.

Lamin already looked like one of Danish hip-hop's new superstars when he gave a supreme show as part of Roskilde Festival's First Days programme in 2022. Since then, the Gambian-Danish rapper has only continued his winning streak, and throughout his spectacular shows, Lamin holds a charismatically strong connection to his fans.

"Lamin is a superstar of Danish hip-hop and a hardworking artist who has paved his own way and established himself as one of the significant voices of our time. He is a great inspiration for many, and he deserves the recognition that comes with opening the Orange Stage," says Anders Wahrén.
