Roskilde Festival 2024 Wraps Up with Hope and Charity

After eight days of music, art, and activism, Roskilde Festival 2024 marks a peaceful and hopeful event. The organisers of the non-profit festival now look forward to donating the financial proceeds to charitable causes for children and young people.

Roskilde Festival 2024 came to an end in the early hours of Sunday. The organiser, the Roskilde Festival Charity Society, can note that the 52nd edition of the Danish festival has gone as planned - peaceful, festive, and hopeful.

Over eight days, 130,000 participants at the Danish festival have explored 200 concerts and over 100 events in a comprehensive festival experience characterised by new musical trends, international superstars, groundbreaking Danish talents, and a wealth of musical trends from the farthest corners of the globe.

This year's programme ranged from legends such as Foo Fighters, Kim Gordon, PJ Harvey, and Skrillex to a new generation of superstars like 21 Savage, Doja Cat, Aurora, SZA, Tems, and Charli XCX.

Festival-goers have also engaged in the programme's offerings on issues such as human rights, climate change and peace in Gaza, while performative artists such as Lara Schnitger, Anansis Web and Mounia Nassangar contributed to a contemporary and multifaceted festival experience with room for experimentation and a strong belief that there is a better way to do things in the world of 2024.

Signe Lopdrup, Roskilde Festival's CEO, says:

"With this year's festival, we wanted to give hope and empowerment to new generations through a progressive, diverse programme that encompasses music, art and activism. The participants are immensely curious and eager to explore new trends. It's important for us to continue providing space for new talents on the stages and giving a voice to those who can create social and cultural change. In this way, Roskilde Festival can inspire action and demonstrate how the future can be explored and celebrated."

New Orange Stage in 2025
Next year's Roskilde Festival will take place from Saturday, 28 June to Saturday, 5 July 2025.

In 2025, Roskilde Festival will inaugurate a new and larger version of the iconic main stage, Orange Stage, replacing the current stage from 2001.

The enhanced main stage is designed and sized to accommodate the complex and extensive stage productions that the biggest artists bring with them.

With increased dimensions and improved load-bearing capacity, the new Orange Stage will provide not only a sublime sound experience but also a stronger visual performance that reaches the large audience in front of the stage.

Signe Lopdrup says:

"We have been working on planning this upgrade to the capacity and quality of Orange Stage for several years, and we look forward to offering future festival guests an even more impressive and memorable experience in 2025."

All Proceeds Donated to Charity

This year's festival sold out in all ticket categories. This once again enables the Roskilde Festival Charity Society to fulfil its charitable purpose by donating all proceeds to humanitarian and cultural causes, particularly benefiting children and young people.

Over the years, Roskilde Festival has generated more than EUR 59 million for charity.
