Oscar Lucien Ono, the founder of Maison Numéro 20, presents
his latest hospitality project:

the newly renovated Tropical Hôtel St Barth

As the Holiday season kicks off, Oscar Lucien Ono, founder of Maison Numéro 20, unveils the newly renovated design of the Tropical Hotel in Saint Barth, just in time for you to book your next getaway. On the most exclusive island in the Caribbean, a few steps away from the beaches of Saint-Jean, the Tropical Hotel St Barth unveils a newly renovated chic and relaxing oasis. With 24 rooms spread over two levels, this glamorous hotel draws its inspiration from the decor of the 1930s and 1940s. This iconic property - the second hotel built in St Barth - combines an Art Deco atmosphere with a Wes Anderson-style kitsch spirit.

Oscar Lucien Ono has creatively created relaxed spaces with understated tropical elegance at the Tropical Hotel. He wanted to pay homage to the idea of being in harmony with the surrounding nature, to stage a place where one feels comfortable and almost familiar.

Weaving a backdrop inspired by the codes of the Caribbean aesthetic at the height of its elegance in the 1940s, Oscar Lucien Ono uses stripes, pastel colors, raw material, and precious details in the décor, which finds its inspiration at the crossroads of the tropical American aesthetic of the 1930s and the codes of the chic and nostalgic French Riviera.

Nature invites itself everywhere like a colorful plant oasis, bringing freshness and intimacy to the different spaces: restaurant, bar, patio, room, and suite. Communicating through typical Caribbean architecture, everything revolves around the patio, the true pulse of the hotel.

Inside, Oscar Lucien Ono continues his interpretation of the Garden of Eden, notably through a selection of fabrics and wallpapers with exotic patterns, such as the famous Salengro model by the designer Manuel Canovas or the Mauritius fabric by Pierre Frey, whose colors have been custom-made for the hotel.

All the plant species are depicted in an artistic way on the mural painted by Raphaël Schmitt, finely concealing the border between the interior and exterior. The armchairs were made by Maison Numéro 20, upholstered in Pierre Frey's Mauritius fabric, and nicely enhanced with passementerie.

THE ROOMS & SUITES

The rooms are designed using various materials that blend with the colorful harmony displayed in shades of green, pink, yellow, and blue. In a boudoir spirit, the bathrooms are adorned with fluted wood vanity and mirrors with rounded lines.

Glazed ceramic pieces of fish on the walls recall the coastal spirit with lightness. The rooms and suites are extended by private terraces that allow guests to enjoy the sun's rays or the cool sea breeze.

Renovation & Extension by Bruneau Ghezzi Architectes

The work was centered on the memory of the place as a marker of the landscape and history of the Bay of St. Jean to create a luxurious and family-oriented establishment, a cocoon open to the vegetation welcoming you in the center of the island. The transition between the communal garden and the room is made gradually by means of corridors and terraces that can be completely seized by the occupants. This makes it possible to extend the space dedicated to each room by projecting it in a double orientation towards the outside, enveloping the guest in nature.
