October. By six o'clock, it is already dark, and the home begins to change. Light no longer falls from above: it settles on the table, rests against the wall, lingers at eye level beside the armchair where someone has just opened a book. Each lamp defines a space, and together, these pools of light shape the room. When switched off, the lamp does not disappear: it retains its volume, proportion, and presence, like a sculpture. Material, then, becomes essential, because the object is seen even when it is not illuminated. Giobagnara brings its own material vocabulary to lighting: finely worked leather, handwoven rattan, bronze, and travertine. The result is a selection of table, floor, wall, and pendant lamps, including designs developed in collaboration with Francesco Balzano, Stéphane Parmentier, and Belgian lighting specialist Tekna.

IN LEATHER

The maison's signature material, wrapped around light

Ossicle, designed by Francesco Balzano, belongs to a collection of the same name: monolithic forms that blend a primordial character with contemporary minimalism. Its lines reference the Jeu des Osselets, a game with roots in ancient Greece and Rome, reinterpreted through a modern lens with a touch of irony that balances organic forms with pure geometry. The table lamp, available in two sizes, features a removable Corian® shade; the wall-mounted version is available in double or triple configurations. Five finishes are offered: golf, wild boar, deer, nappa, and suede.

Enea features a leather-covered wood base and a linen shade. Inspired by architectural elements of classical antiquity, such as Greek columns, its curves and angles create an interplay of light and shadow when illuminated. Available in two sizes, in monochromatic or two-tone versions.

Created in collaboration with Tekna, a pioneer of Belgian lighting design, the collection brings together Giobagnara's leather craftsmanship and Belgian lighting expertise. Marquesse is a leather-clad floor lamp designed for reading: the light tube rotates 350° and tilts 90°, while a weighted base provides stability and a foot-operated dimmer allows for easy adjustment. Walcott is a leather-clad brass wall light defined by clean lines and rounded forms, also available in a double-bulb version.

RATTAN AND BRONZE

Light weaves, burnished metals

Orion, designed by Stéphane Parmentier, has a clean, conical form: the chandelier's impressive scale-47.2 inches in diameter-is given a sense of lightness through handwoven rattan. It is suspended from substantial chains in brushed and burnished bronze, creating a contrast of materials, weights, tones, and textures. Thanks to Giobagnara's dedicated rattan workshop in Genoa, Orion can also be made to measure, as demonstrated by the impressive oval version measuring 110.2 × 47.2 inches. The Orion wall light features a sinuous silhouette in woven rattan finished with a nappa leather trim.

Duomo combines references to 1970s lighting with clean lines and geometric volumes. The curved shade and base are crafted in bronze, while the woven rattan body gives the piece a lighter, more informal character. The light is soft and ambient, ideal for reading and relaxing. A dimmable LED, rechargeable battery, and touch control provide 8 to 16 hours of use, depending on the light intensity.

STONE AND GLASS

Italian architecture on a domestic scale

Palazzo, designed by Stéphane Parmentier, is a graphic tribute to the architecture and stylized ornamentation of Italian palazzos. It combines travertine, an emblematic Italian stone, with suede, creating a contrast of texture, color, and material. Available in three sizes.

Scala draws inspiration from the layered forms found at the base of certain Italian buildings. The base is cast in bronze, and the shade in opaline glass, with the same stacked motif repeated across both elements. Its elegance lies in the absolute precision of its proportions. Winner of the Wallpaper* Design Award 2018.

About Giobagnara

Founded in Genoa at the end of the 1990s by Giorgio and Vanessa Bagnara, Giobagnara is the maison that introduced leather to the world of home décor: a pioneering act at a time when the material was almost exclusively associated with fashion and saddlery. Over more than two decades, the Bagnaras have built a vocabulary entirely their own, applying artisanal mastery to the objects of everyday life and combining exquisite leathers with noble materials in a limitless palette of colours and finishes. Every piece is conceived, developed and produced in Italy. Giobagnara serves a discerning international clientele spanning private collectors, architects and interior designers, hospitality, yachting and aviation specifiers, and leading retail partners worldwide. The maison operates an expanding network of monobrand stores and shop-in-shops in key international locations, with its flagship in Venice, Piazza San Marco.
