Gaining altitude and shifting perspective
The perfect resolution to start the year in a more zen state of mind

Shifting perspective: what if disconnection started here, or rather, up above

In a daily life saturated with information, punctuated by constant notifications and back to back meetings, finding a true moment to pause and breathe often feels like a challenge.

Yet according to Magnicity, the global leader in urban panoramic experiences, simply looking out into the distance can be enough to generate a powerful sense of wellbeing. For many respondents, the emotional intensity experienced while taking in a panoramic view is comparable to moments of relaxation such as a spa session. Today, urban observatories are emerging as true spaces for emotional reconnection. Timeless places suspended above the city where people dream, celebrate, and share meaningful moments.

"This study highlights a strong generational dynamic around reconnection: reconnection with nature, with space, with life itself. In a dense and constrained world, gaining altitude, breathing, and opening oneself up becomes almost a restorative act. It is no longer a pause, but a contemporary necessity," says Juliette Portos, strategy expert and specialist in major societal transformations, POLI Consulting.

The panoramic view as a powerful trigger for wellbeing

An international study conducted for the Magnicity Group by polling institute Zymetria among French, German, Dutch, Polish, and Illinois based American visitors reveals the unique emotional power of panoramic views within the urban experience.

  • Nearly one third of respondents say that admiring a breathtaking view helps them recharge and unwind.

Gaining altitude means reconnecting with oneself

When faced with a "wow" view, emotions go far beyond cultural differences.

  • Half of respondents report feeling a deep sense of freedom, while 48 percent spontaneously experience awe.

Respondents associate the contemplation of panoramic views with very strong positive emotions, suggesting a significant calming effect and a perceived disconnection from everyday life. These universal emotions of freedom and wonder position panoramic views as a powerful lever for stepping away from daily pressures and reconnecting with oneself, well beyond a simple moment of relaxation.

The study also reveals that the experience becomes even more intense when shared with loved ones.

  • For nearly 45 percent of respondents, sharing special moments with others is the ideal way to enjoy free time in a unique place.

Places that elevate both cities and unforgettable moments for visitors

The impact of panoramic observatories on the image of cities is widely recognized:

  • 73% of respondents believe that a panoramic observatory or rooftop has a positive impact on a city's attractiveness and overall image.
  • Demonstrating how embedded these experiences are in everyday habits, 93% of respondents have already visited an observatory or panoramic rooftop.
  • 69% of respondents frequently visit viewpoints.
  • Finally, 88% say they take photos to capture the moment and the city view from these unique locations.

Magnicity: five cities, five ways to disconnect

WARSAW, POLAND - Varso Tower

New for 2025

Designed by architecture firm Foster + Partners, Varso Tower rises 310 meters above Warsaw in the heart of the city, just steps from the central train station.

Two panoramic spaces offer a unique experience:

  • The landscaped terrace on the 49th floor: a rare suspended oasis of greenery above the city, offering a peaceful pause amid the urban buzz and one of the highest publicly accessible views.
  • The High Garden bar at the same level: the highest cocktail bar in the European Union, serving signature cocktails and a menu inspired by local flavors, with direct access to an observation terrace.

BERLIN, GERMANY - Tour TV

An absolute symbol of Berlin, the TV Tower at 368 meters offers a panoramic experience enhanced by a culinary journey by Tim Raue, revisiting fifty years of Berlin gastronomy within the revolving Sphere restaurant.

Visitors can also take a virtual flight over the capital through a virtual reality experience tracing Berlin's evolution from the Middle Ages to today. An observatory where history, the city's energy, and emotion come together.

ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - Euromast

From 185 meters high, Euromast reveals Rotterdam in a soft, enveloping atmosphere. An intimate setting where visitors can share a dinner, a moment for two, or time with friends, enjoying a calm and precious pause.

An accessible, well equipped, and comfortable observatory that embodies a gentle form of disconnection, in a distinctly Northern European spirit.
