Faro Barcelona reinterprets a 1970s architectural language to create a sculptural and atmospheric collection

Faro Barcelona's Dome collection reimagines the architectural minimalism of the 1970s through a contemporary lens, pairing sculptural geometric forms with warm, atmospheric light for modern interiors.

The 1970s are once again influencing the design landscape, but this time, the revival is less about recreating the past and more about rediscovering what made the decade so distinctive. Faro Barcelona taps into this renewed appreciation for '70s design with Dome, a lighting collection by Faro Lab that revisits the era's architectural minimalism through a refined exploration of form, proportion, and light. As rounded silhouettes, geometric forms, and warmer, more expressive spaces resurface, Dome demonstrates how the visual language of the decade can feel distinctly relevant today.

At the center of Dome is a simple geometric gesture: a rounded opal diffuser balanced against a slender structural frame. Its sculptural form recalls the spheres, curves, and bold geometry associated with 1970s design, while a restrained and subtle silhouette keeps the collection from feeling overtly retro. The opal diffuser softens and filters the light, producing a warm, uniform glow without harsh glare and allowing the fixture to contribute to the atmosphere of its surroundings.

That balance between nostalgia and modernity reflects the way '70s design is being revisited more broadly. Rather than adopting the decade wholesale, designers are drawing from its most enduring qualities, including expressive shapes, warm materials, bold geometry, and a sense of comfort and personality. Dome translates those ideas into a versatile lighting collection designed for residential, hospitality, workplace, retail, and other architectural environments.

The collection includes table lamps in two sizes, a floor lamp, wall light, and pendant, allowing the same geometric language to create visual continuity across different spaces and scales. The large table and floor versions also incorporate dimming, giving designers greater control over light levels and allowing the atmosphere to adapt to different moments and settings.

As the '70s continue to influence design today, their return is proving to be about more than nostalgia. With Dome, Faro Barcelona looks to the architectural language of the decade without being defined by it, translating its geometry, warmth, and expressive character into a collection that reflects the brand's approach to thoughtful, versatile design and the relationship between light and space.
