At Maison&Objet, from 10 to 14 September 2026 at the Parc des Expositions, Paris Nord Villepinte, Giobagnara presents the novelties of the season. On one side Rolli, a new collection of boxes that takes its name, its order and its proportions from the system of palaces entered in the registers of the Republic. On the other, the board game - a category the market has brought back to centre stage, and which the maison approaches with seven new titles: sudoku, Go, Othello, Chinese checkers, four in a row in the Structura and Lerici versions, and the Rolli Chess & Draughts board. Hospitality and play: two themes that at Giobagnara have always shared the same table.

ROLLI

A story of Genoese hospitality translated into objects that welcome and bring order.​​​​

Genoa, the sixteenth century. The Republic is an oligarchy without a court, and when princes of the calibre of Charles V and their ambassadors arrive from the sea, there is no residence in which to receive them. The Senate therefore enters the houses of the patrician families into the rolli, the registers of the Republic, and for each visit the palace that will play host is drawn by lot from among those on the list. A role, and a fortune. The honour is accepted before knowing whether the draw will bring anyone at all - and meanwhile one builds, one frescoes, one prepares a façade worthy of a guest who may never come. From this story, which is also the story of the city where the maison was born and where it still manufactures, comes Rolli.

From the palaces, the collection takes its cornices. Four shapes - round, square, rectangular, long rectangular - each in three sizes, from mini to large. Every shape exists in two registers: monochrome, or two-tone, with the edge traced in a contrasting colour, a border that holds the volume and declares its perimeter. Heights align, depths fall into line, the pieces sit side by side and stack; and the composition, on the table, grows like an elevation - never twice the same. Printed calfskin, available in all the maison's leathers, gives the hand the measure the eye has already recognised in the profile.

Rolli, however, is not only a collection of boxes. It is a stylistic matrix, a vocabulary of junctions and proportions intended to run across the maison's product categories alongside Polo, Positano and Firenze: the same grammar of softened corners and full volumes that made Polo a bestseller, here carried into a higher register. Rolli is already a chessboard too, Rolli Chess & Draughts: from hospitality to play, and to the chapter that follows.

Back from the holidays, the table is already set for a game

This summer, we started playing again. On the boat, in the garden, under the parasol: wherever time was measured in afternoons, people gathered around a board, unhurried. Away from screens, the pleasure of sharing and of doing things has returned, through simple, tangible gestures: a drawer that opens, a piece to choose, the grain of a material to feel beneath the fingers. It is a physical dimension of play that brings material, gesture and time back to the centre. With the arrival of autumn, this ritual changes setting and moves indoors: from the garden table to the one by the fireplace, from the house by the sea to the mountain chalet, into evenings that grow longer. And it is the home itself, with its materials and its surfaces, that becomes Giobagnara's new playing field, as the maison expands its chapter devoted to games with seven new titles and four new micro-categories. Corian®, marble, walnut and leather shape a collection in which design becomes a tactile experience, turning the objects of play into presences to be lived with and shared.

The Delos collection expands. Sudoku: top in marble, wood or Corian®, metal handle, leather drawer for the eighty-one pieces engraved from one to nine. Go: leather field, magnetic drawers, three hundred and sixty-one stones. Othello: sixty-four wooden pieces on a top that repeats the same choice of materials. And Chinese checkers, in leather and Corian®, the most immediate entry into the category. Alongside them, Structura and Lerici bring four in a row onto a vertical field in leather and walnut. Mah-Jong, already part of the collection, is renewed: one hundred and forty-eight opaque plexiglass tiles, two hundred and forty-four sticks, four dice and one marked, all in a suede pouch.

It is at the smallest scale that craftsmanship is measured: stitching across a few centimetres, joints that must close first time, magnetic closures that hold without making themselves felt, hand-finished pieces.
