Craft - Métiers d'Art | The Art and The Method

Craft—métiers d'art is a vibrant space entirely devoted to fine craft and exceptional savoir-faire. With this sector, Maison&Objet reaffirms its unwavering commitment to nurturing, preserving, and elevating craftsmanship.

Unique pieces or limited editions, bespoke creations, and responsible design - each object is conceived as a work of art, sculpted by the precision of the hand. This area at the heart of the show is also a unique offering that sets Maison&Objet apart, as the fair has included craftsmanship and the arts since its very beginning. For professionals, retailers, and trendsetters, this sector also guarantees the ability to stand out with distinctive selections that bear the maker's personal touch.

Brands that embody the sector:  Mathieu Gicquel, Livehorn et Bourg-Joly Malicorne

Within the Craft - métiers d'art sector, exhibiting brands give tangible form to a sensitive vision of the object. Whether functional or exceptional, each piece tells a story of materials carefully chosen,
gestures passed down, and the beauty of handmade work. Focus on three of them that illustrate
the rich and vibrant selection to discover in CRAFT.

Matthieu Gicquel is a French glass artist who explores the beauty of textured glass through a contemporary and poetic approach. Inspired by the Japanese philosophies of wabi-sabi and yûgen, he celebrates simplicity, imperfection, and depth. Each piece - be it an object, a piece of furniture, or an architectural element, is conceived as a sensory experience, where material and light engage in a gentle dialogue. His handcrafted work reveals a singular universe, at the crossroads of design and art, where glass becomes a true vessel for emotion.

September: The new complementary facets of design and objects, and the emergence of exciting young talent.

The September show is the precursor to all things new. A vantage point for spotting young creativity in movement, resonating with #ParisDesignWeek. It is the meeting place for collectors of new ideas, those who sniff out market tendencies, cutting-edge trends, and the zeitgeist. Those who see every object as the culmination of a concept, an idea, a space to be created.
