Maison&Objet January 2025

unveils its new space "Curatio," a unique immersion into collectible design and exceptional craftsmanship, curated and scenographed by
Thomas Haarmann.

Curatio, the exclusive space at the upcoming edition of Maison&Objet, promises to be one of the must-see events in the Signature sector! Thought out and scenographed by German designer and interior architect Thomas Haarmann, this new Maison&Objet space offers a privileged experience in collectible design, highlighting exceptional craftsmanship.

A regular at Maison&Objet, where he first attended for his boutique Magazyn before designing stands for prestigious brands, Thomas Haarmann returns this time as the curator of an unprecedented project in Hall 7, at the heart of the Signature sector.

Borrowed from Latin to signify "care" or "management," the Curatio space is a celebration of exceptional design: limited-edition objects, produced in Europe, with notable artistic significance, meticulously selected from around fifteen creators.

"Collectible design embodies the artistic dimension of decor, where design and aesthetics merge to create a singular and unforgettable sensory experience," explains Nathalie Moreno, Market Director at Maison&Objet.

CURATIO

by Thomas Haarmann

Signature Sector, Hall 7

Located in Hall 7, at the heart of the Signature sector, this space showcases rare and original objects that exemplify remarkable European craftsmanship. Curatio is more than just an exhibition: it is an invitation to reinvent the narrative of objects through bold and unexpected scenography.

In this space, the surprising juxtaposition of materials and eras tells unique stories and offers a fresh perspective on objects. This dialogue between forms and materials aims to guide decorators, architects, and professionals in their pursuit of aesthetic and emotional differentiation. The creations curated by Thomas Haarmann embody exceptional craftsmanship, high-end design, and a pronounced artistic dimension, catering to the demanding needs of sectors such as hospitality and retail.

"I want to create surprising contrasts between worlds that typically don't intersect, taking objects out of their usual contexts. I'm crafting a fresh story for them, full of unexpected contrasts: crystal meets raw concrete, modern pieces clash with retro ones. I believe context matters as much as the objects themselves. Professionals often feel overwhelmed by the abundance of choices; they're looking for ways to tie everything together with a cohesive vision. I help them define a style that's authentically theirs," explains Thomas Haarmann.

It was while seeking to personalize the collections he represented that Thomas Haarmann ventured into furniture design and interior architecture. With a clean and sophisticated style, he is distinguished by his pronounced taste for unexpected contrasts. His rise in the industry led to collaborations with prestigious brands, becoming Artistic Director for Domani and Van Rossum.

Whether working on a residential project, a commercial space, or product design, each of Thomas Haarmann's creations reflects a subtle balance between his personal influences and his clients' vision. Just like the reception area he designed for the Laurius law firm in Antwerp-a space where precision and warmth intertwine-his work invites people to feel and interpret rather than simply admire. Recognized for his intuitive approach and constant quest for authenticity, he continues to push the boundaries of design, transforming each project into a unique sensory experience.
